Tattoo Removal at 1192 Clinic
Multicolour Laser Tattoo Removal in Swansea from the experts with a combined 22 years of experience removing tattoos. Laser Tattoo removal once meant gambling low odds of success on a high risk of scarring and pain. Tattoos are designed to last forever, but as more and more people seek removal of these deeply embedded ink particles, laser tattoo removal technology too has kept pace with improved methods of safety and efficiency.
What technology do we offer at 1192 Clinic?
Tattoos can be a permanent reminder of something that no longer represents you.
Whether you've changed your mind about a tattoo, have an old design you'd like to fade or simply want to make space for something new, Picofy can be used to help reduce unwanted tattoo pigmentation.
At 1192 Clinic in Swansea, we offer advanced Picofy laser treatments by InMode, a next-generation picosecond laser platform designed to target unwanted pigmentation and tattoo ink with precision.
Picofy uses ultra-short picosecond pulses of laser energy to target specific pigments within the skin. With multiple wavelengths and treatment options available, the technology can be customised to suit different skin concerns and treatment areas.
Picofy can be used for tattoo removal and selected pigmentation concerns, as well as certain skin rejuvenation applications such as the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles.
Whether you're looking to fade an unwanted tattoo, reduce the appearance of pigmentation or improve the appearance of certain skin concerns, your treatment will be individually assessed and tailored to you.
Why choose Picofy for tattoo removal?
Picofy has been specifically designed for the treatment of unwanted tattoos and offers multiple wavelengths and treatment options to allow treatment parameters to be tailored to the tattoo being treated.
However, every tattoo is different and no two tattoos will respond in exactly the same way.
Factors that can influence treatment include:
Tattoo colour
Type of ink used
Amount and density of pigment
Tattoo size
Tattoo location
Depth of the ink
Whether the tattoo is professional or amateur
Your individual skin type and response to treatment
For this reason, we will assess your tattoo during your consultation before recommending a treatment plan.
How Does Picofy Tattoo Removal Work?
Step 1 - Consultation
We'll examine your tattoo and discuss your expectations, previous treatments and desired outcome.
We'll also assess your skin and determine whether Picofy is appropriate for you.
Step 2 - Patch Test
A patch test will be carried out before treatment to assess your skin's response and help determine suitable treatment parameters. If this is your first time having Laser Tattoo Removal at 1192 Clinic, then you will need to wait 7 days before treatment can be done. If you have had tattoo removal with us previously there is a 24-72 hour wait after a new patch test.
Step 3 - Picofy Treatment
Your practitioner will use the appropriate Picofy wavelength and settings for your individual tattoo.
The treatment delivers very short pulses of laser energy to the targeted pigment.
You may experience a snapping or elastic-band-like sensation during treatment, although everyone's experience is different.
Step 4 - Your Skin Begins Its Recovery
Following treatment, the area may appear red, swollen or sensitive.
Your practitioner will provide detailed aftercare advice to help you care for the treated area while your skin recovers.
Step 5 - Gradual Pigment Clearance
Tattoo removal doesn't happen overnight.
The targeted pigment is gradually cleared by your body's natural processes, meaning multiple treatments are generally required.
Your practitioner will advise you on the appropriate interval between treatments and monitor your progress throughout your course.
We are registered with the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, the independent inspectorate and regulator of healthcare in Wales.
Before you get started
We are proud to offer a free and no obligation consultation to explain the treatment process in detail, apprise the accurate cost of tattoo removal per session and to assess your suitability for this treatment. This session will also give you a chance to ask any questions you may have to one of our experienced laser therapists. Having removed hundreds of tattoos successfully for over 20 years, we have numerous examples of tattoos we have removed that we can show to you. Before any Tattoo sessions can be booked, a small ‘patch test’ area of the tattoo will be treated to ensure you are suitable to have the full tattoo removal treatment and a before treatment photo will be taken.
Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs
What does the treatment feel like?
Many people describe the feeling of non-ablative laser therapy as a tingling sensation. The impact of the energy from the pulse of light is similar to the snap of a very thin rubber band. Anaesthesia is usually not necessary, but you may request a topical cream if you wish. For those having tattoo removal, some patients may feel mild discomfort as the physician traces the design because the tattoo ink absorbs the laser energy.
How does it work?
Picofy uses ultra-short picosecond pulses of laser energy to target tattoo pigment within the skin. The laser energy helps break the pigment into smaller particles, which your body can then gradually clear naturally over time.
Can Picofy remove coloured tattoos?
Picofy offers different wavelengths designed to target different tattoo pigments. However, some colours can be more difficult to treat than others.
We'll assess the colours and type of pigment in your tattoo during your consultation to determine whether PiCofy is suitable.
Is there anything I should avoid before tattoo removal?
Your practitioner will give you specific pre-treatment advice. This will include avoiding sunbeds, tanning or excessive sun exposure and informing us about any relevant medication or changes to your health.
Following the advice provided before your appointment helps us treat your skin as safely as possible.
Is the process painful?
The Picofy laser emits light in very short pulses. The impact of the energy from the power pulse of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubber band. After the treatment, the area will feel similar to a light sunburn. Typically any discomfort will disappear within a day or so. After the redness clears, the skin returns to its natural colour and texture.
Are there any after effects from the treatment?
Some patients may experience erythema (superficial reddening of the skin), that is typically resolved in 24 hours.
Can Picofy completely remove my tattoo?
Tattoo removal results vary and complete removal cannot always be guaranteed. Some tattoos can be significantly faded, while others may leave some residual pigment.
Your practitioner will assess your individual tattoo and give you realistic expectations before treatment.
Is Picofy tattoo removal suitable for everyone?
Picofy isn't suitable for everyone. Your practitioner will consider factors including your skin type, the tattoo being treated, its location and your individual circumstances.
If we feel another approach would be more appropriate, we'll discuss this with you during your consultation.
How many treatment sessions will it take to remove the tattoo?
This depends on the size and type of tattoo you may have. A large, professional tattoo will take more sessions than a smaller, amateur one. A free consultation is available to learn more about what you may require.
What type of post treatment care is necessary?
The treated area may feel similar to a mild sunburn. No specific post-care is needed, although you will be asked to avoid sun and certain skin products for a period of time.
How long do I have to wait between tattoo removal treatments?
Your skin needs time to recover and your body needs time to clear the targeted pigment before another treatment is carried out.
The appropriate interval will depend on your individual tattoo and how your skin responds. Your practitioner will advise you when it is safe to have your next treatment.
Can I have a tattoo removed if I want a cover-up?
Yes. Tattoo removal can sometimes be used to fade an existing tattoo rather than completely remove it, which may help create a better base for a future cover-up.
If your goal is to have a cover-up, let us know during your consultation so we can tailor your treatment plan around this.
